Homes in Bethany
Most of Bethany’s homes were built in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. The median home was built in 1967, and about 84% were built before 1980.
A house that’s 50 or 60 years old may still have some original plumbing, or a mix of old and new pipe from repairs over the years. A main valve that hasn’t been turned in a long time can also be hard to close when you need it. Read how to shut off your water.
Who to call about water in Bethany
Bethany Public Works runs the City’s water distribution, water treatment and sewer systems. Its number is (405) 789-6285.
The City’s Public Works and utility pages don’t list a separate after-hours water number. For billing questions and leak bill adjustments, Customer Service and Utility Billing is at (405) 789-2146, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Help with a high bill after a leak
Bethany offers a Cost Sharing Adjustment for repaired leaks of up to 30,000 gallons. It applies to one month’s bill, and you need proof of the repair.
The City accepts any receipt or invoice that shows the leak was fixed, and it doesn’t have to come from a plumber. Ask Customer Service for the form. The City says dripping faucets during a storm don’t qualify, because it only helps with documented repairs.
Keep that receipt with the photos, moisture readings and drying records we give you for your insurance claim. Read about how a claim works with United.
Bethany’s water treatment crew
Bethany’s Water Treatment team treats raw water for drinking and collects wastewater and sewage for treatment. The City says the crew is on duty 24 hours a day.
Bethany stays on Stage 1 water rationing all year by default: homes with odd house numbers water outdoors on odd calendar days, and even numbers on even days. The City also asks residents to check toilets and sinks for leaks.
