What we do for an appliance leak
We remove the water, check under cabinets, toe kicks and flooring with moisture readings, and dry what got wet so moisture doesn’t linger.
Readings show where the water went, including spots you can’t see. Read about structural drying.
Why kitchen and laundry leaks spread
Water runs under cabinets and flooring where you can’t see it. A floor can look dry while the subfloor and cabinet bases are still wet.
The usual culprits
Washing machine hoses, dishwasher supply lines and refrigerator ice-maker lines are the usual sources. A plumber or appliance tech can fix them.
Replacing old rubber washer hoses with braided ones can help prevent the next leak.
Insurance and appliance leaks
A sudden hose or supply line failure is often treated differently from a slow leak. Your carrier decides coverage, and we document the loss.
We share our photos, readings and drying records with you and your adjuster. Read more about how a claim works with United.
